Helen Crossland, 88, of Exeter, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in Red Rose Inn, Cassville.

She was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Barry County, the daughter of Roy Dayton and Cora (Ruppert) Brattin. On Dec. 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charles Crossland, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Bill Crossland and his wife, Carole, of Cassville; two brothers, Sherman Brattin, of Springfield, and Ludon Brattin and his wife, Helen, of Wheaton; two sisters, Lorine Lickliter and her husband, Raymond, of Exeter, and Barbara Haynes and her husband, Charles, of Springfield; two grandchildren, Kevin Crossland and his wife, Mindy, and Kim Donica and her husband, Chuck; three great grandchildren; one step-great- grandchild; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Crossland; six brothers, William C., Miner, Pete, Lillard, Leo and Jack Brattin and one grandson.

She received her education in the Wheaton area. She was a life-long resident of Barry County. She and her husband lived on the same farm over 59 years and in December they would have been married 68 years. She had been employed at Vollenweider Orchards for a while and worked elections several years. She was a member of Wheaton Church of Christ.

Graveside services were held Friday, in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
