Letter to the Editor

Support for Camp Barnabas is ongoing

Thursday, November 3, 2005

Dear Editor:

We are writing to express our heartfelt thanks to you and your readers for the unsurpassed outpouring of love and support for our beloved Camp Barnabas.

Sunday evening's broadcast of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on ABC-TV was yet another reminder of how very special our campers and volunteers are. We have received inquiries, donations and messages of support from as far away as Australia.

"TV Guide"'s colorful story on Camp Barnabas has provided a tremendous boost to our campers and their families. We are exceptionally grateful for the many corporate donations and "TV Guide"'s generous contribution of 10 percent of the proceeds from newsstand sales of this week's newly formatted issue.

What's next for Camp Barnabas? Although the response has been overwhelming, there is still much work to be done. Many of our cabins are still worn and tired, and so many special children are in need of camper scholarships. Also, our annual operating fund to maintain and run both our new and old facilities depends on donor support.

If every person gave just $20, we could soon build one more new cabin or bring another special camper to Camp Barnabas. Each and every dollar counts! We urge you to visit our website at www.campbarnabas.org where you will find detailed information on how you can help. Or, call our toll-free line at 1-800-217-1750, to help sustain the future of Camp Barnabas.

God bless you for caring about the very special Camp Barnabas kids.
