Ira Joseph Ray, 88, of Aurora, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born May 23, 1917, in Cato, the son of Joe and Paralee (Doty) Ray. On July 19, 1947, he was united in marriage to Carrie Elizabeth Snider who preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one stepdaughter; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include: two sons, Lonnie Ray, of Priest River, Idaho, and Larry Ray, of Forsyth; one daughter, Sue Stockton, of Cassville; two brothers, Lavern Ray, of Aurora, and Loy Ray of Shell Knob, Missouri; one sister, Blanche Hadlow, of Shell Knob; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

He was a life-long resident of Barry County. He was a farmer and worked for the United States Forest Service until his retirement. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Funeral services were held at Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial was at King Cemetery, Jenkins.
