Birdie Maxine Bruton, 89, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in Red Rose Inn of Cassville.

She was born March 8, 1916, in Blue Jacket, Okla., the daughter of John and Maude (Austin) Morlan. On Nov. 23, 1933, in Lamar, Colo., she was united in marriage to Samuel Lloyd Bruton, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lloyd Keith Bruton and Jerry Wallace Bruton and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Larry Bruton and his wife, Delores, of Cassville, and Charley Joe Bruton, of Cassville; a daughter-in-law, Linda Bruton of Toppenish, Wash.; one brother, George Morlan, of McClave, Colo.; five grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She attended several schools while growing up. After her marriage to her husband, Sam, she lived in Colorado for several years. In 1993 she moved from Golden to Cassville to make her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cassville, the Golden Circle Shores and Mark Twain Homemakers.

Funeral services were held at Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. John Duncan conducted the services. Burial was in Viney Creek Cemetery, Golden.
