UN dues should be used for hurricane relief

Wednesday, October 5, 2005

Dear Editor:

The compassionate response to the tragic hurricanes has been tremendous, however, did anyone by any chance see the ACLU, NAACP, The American Atheist Organization or People For The American Way setting up feeding lines, opening up shelters or organizing trucks of medical supplies or water? I heard a lot of griping from the likes of politicians and Jesse Jackson. Does it make you think how ordinary Christian people quietly respond? But surely we may not mention God in Any Way.

How much help was the UN? They hate the US and call us stingy. Why not take the $324 million that we give them in dues each year and five it toward the hurricane bailout? Better yet, let us withdraw from that power-hungry organization whose goal it is to be a world power with the power to tax us, take away our sovereignty as a nation and take away our right to bear arms...that is only to mention a few of their global aims. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox, but if you agree, let your representatives in Congress know your views. To give credit where it is due, let me commend Roy Blunt for getting a bill through the House of Representatives to stop the UN from trying to tax the American people. Now that bill is going to the Senate. Let us hope they are not too busy to consider it.
