Kenneth Michael "Mike" Whisman, 58, passed away Sept. 15, 2005, in Purdy, following a long illness. He was born May 10, 1947, in DeQueen, Ark., to Kenneth C. and Vivian V. (Underwood) Whisman.
He was united in marriage to Lynn C. Stiles on Aug. 1, 1968, at Miami, Okla., and she survives.
Additional survivors in-clude: his mother, Vivian; two sons, Michael Shane Whisman, Purdy, Joshua Wade Whisman and his wife, Natalie, Eagle Rock, and a daughter, Michelle Christine Whisman and her fiancÚ, Chris Barnes, of Eagle Rock; and four grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Lynn Kline and her husband, Les, Joplin, Dixie Kay Sams and her husband, Larry, Tulsa, Okla.; He is also survived by a daughter, Aimee Nelums, and three grand-children, Galena, Kan.
He as preceded in death by his father.
He graduated from Neosho High School in 1965 and received his associates degrees in music and education from Crowder College in 1968. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology, and Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Missouri Southern State College in May, 1979.
He graduated with honors first in his class from the Camden County Law Enforce-ment Course in 1984. He was employed by the Missouri State Division of Youth Services for 12 years.
He owned and operated Whisman's Music Repair for 15 years, the last five of which were at his shop in Purdy. He was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church.
Services were held Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Interment was at Painter Cemetery in Shell Knob.
