Heroin seized in bust (06/01/06)
A Cassville man, described by authorities as a major drug trafficker in the Barry County area, was arrested last week after a search warrant was executed as his home and 26 packets of heroin were seized. William H. Mansfield, 50, has been charged by Barry County Prosecutor Johnnie Cox with one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. A pair of Barry County crashes resulted in a fourth of the highway fatalities that were recorded over the Memorial Day weekend in Missouri. Dianne Blevins, 42, of Golden, died as a result of injuries she sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 86 four miles east of Golden on Saturday night. Ronald Hoshaw, 72, of Shell Knob, died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 39 two miles south of Jenkins on Saturday afternoon...

State track medalists Cassville High School's Nick Pianalto, pictured above in the center of the photo, won the silver medal in discus at the Class 3 state track meet in Jefferson City.
