Several community members adopted ducks for the Cassville Senior Center's Duck Quack and Hoe Down duck race on Oct. 1. Individuals attending the event had an opportunity to help the plastic ducks "paddle" down the raceway during the event. A total of 30 ducks earned spots in the final duck race by placing in the top 10 during three qualifying heats. In the end, a duck adopted by Linda Precoda was proclaimed the winner. Precoda earned a $250 cash prize.

The Cassville Senior Center held a celebrity duck race during their annual Duck Quack and Hoe Down fundraiser on Oct. 1. Celebrities adopted ducks for $100 each, and the winner received a $250 prize to donate to the charity of their choice. A duck adopted by Nolan McNeill claimed the top prize. McNeill donated his winnings back to the senior center. The event benefited the center's meals program.

On Saturday, the Cassville Senior Center's duck race attracted a small crowd of community members who helped the flock of pink, yellow and blue plastic ducks make their way down a raceway constructed by Terry Heinz, of Cassville. Ducks raced in three qualifying heats before the final race was held to determine the winner of the $250 cash prize. In the photo above, Linda Parker, senior center administrator, catches a duck at the finish line.
