Chuck Terrill: Easter surprise (4/20/22)This last week many celebrated Easter Sunday. The resurrection of Jesus was a life changing surprise for the early disciples. Jesus had been put to death by crucifixion. Even though the Lord had repeatedly taught that death could not hold Him, His followers were amazed to see Him alive! Today’s Easter celebrations lack the element of surprise. Don't you wish that you could be surprised by Easter?...

Chuck Terrill: Is there dust on your Bible? (3/23/22)I’m a little bit deaf. Not selective deafness, as my wife claims, but real “That guy needs hearing aids!” deafness. Drive through places, where you listen and talk through a speaker, is difficult for me. Attempting to hear dinner conversation in a crowded restaurant is also difficult. You learn to read lips a little bit, but still discover you are nodding “Yes” when you shouldn’t be. ...

Food service reports released for December, January (3/23/22)The Health Department divides food service code violations into two categories; Priority and Core items. Priority items are more likely than other violations to contribute to food contamination, or illness and/or injury. Core items although important to the overall hygiene of the establishment, do not necessarily present an immediate threat to food contamination or illness and/or injury...

Chuck Terrill: Springtime of the soul (3/16/22)Winter has put up quite a fight this year. Spring tried to take over but was beaten back several times. The thermometer got a workout as the mercury climbed up only to be pushed back down. The blessed rain showers of April will signal that spring has finally won the battle. ...

Chuck Terrill: Winter weather predictions (3/2/22)On Feb. 2, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his den, saw his shadow, and predicted 6 more weeks of winter. He was right. Shortly after his prediction, a massive storm swept through much of the U.S. From Texas north to the New England states, traffic was stuck in the snowdrifts and thousands of flights were cancelled...

Chuck Terrill: Musings on division in the church (2/9/22)The worst possible thing that could ever happen is what I call a “church split.” You have probably heard horrendous tales of that terrible event. We will endure one in our church this coming Sunday. With the arrival of the Super Bowl, some congregants will be wearing yellow and white in support of the LA Rams. Sunday is the big game day!...

She raised the funds necessary to expand a growing ministry. ...

Chuck Terrill: Silent Night (12/15/21)“Silent Night” remains one of the most beloved of the traditional Christmas carols. The words, the tune, the message — all are so simple, yet, so unforgettable (which is true of the Christmas message itself). The picture of the Christ child sleeping “in heavenly peace” amid less than ideal surroundings is one that beckons us during a season when crowds and commotion are all too common. ...
