Back to Iraq

Posted Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 4:27 PM

Since my last update, I have come back to Iraq. The time at home visiting with friends and family was indeed a great morale booster. But, like all good things, they do have to end.

I came back to Iraq and since have moved north towards Mosul. I know the news media coverage lately back home and am very glad to say that all of my friends and myself are all safe. The Lord has been very good to us throughout this deployment. I pray that he will continue to watch us and provide his protection as we continue our mission. Although our deployment is winding down, we have work yet to do and we will complete the tasks set before us -- as disciplined, well trained soldiers do. The recent news of incidents in the country have somewhat struck a nerve within myself, and while I will not speak of this during this posting, maybe later I will share it with you.

Veteran's Day 2008 has come and gone and I was proud to read that the City of Cassville has continued the time-honored tradition of honoring the local veterans. I was impressed with the Cassville Democrat's coverage of the ceremony at CHS and was impressed with CHS Principal Brad Hanson. I have had high respect for him since he was my principal, back in 2002.

During a time when we have such mixed feelings in the country on the conflict here in Iraq and the political situation back home, the best thing I believe we can do is to bow our heads in prayer and ask God for his wisdom and help in the situation. I am a firm believer that God is in control ultimately. This past week this belief was made fact to myself, and the entire crew in our truck. This is another story I don't want to share at this time, but let me just say, it is amazing what a difference 45 seconds can make. Maybe over coffee when I get home I can share these thoughts and experiences with some.

If nothing else from this post I want to express my gratitude once again to my family, friends and community for their support of all US troops.

God Bless You All
