The end of trout season at Roaring River State Park is fast approaching with just a couple of weeks left. Although the fishing season is winding down, the hatchery is still in full swing and is gearing up for the winter growing season. The spring babies have done very well this summer despite low water conditions and are almost ready to move to the big raceways for their final growth stage. The hatchery crew is busy emptying out raceways, steam cleaning them, repairing oxygenators and other equipment. We anticipate that when March 1st rolls around, we will have ample supplies of good sized trout ready. In the meantime, keep in mind that the Winter Catch and Release season begins November 12 and runs through February 14 and will be open Friday through Monday.
