Trout Park Grand SlamPosted Friday, May 29, 2009, at 10:07 AM
David (Chip) Little from Wood River Illinois, is one of three anglers who fish Missouri's Trout Parks so far who have earned the Grand Slam patch. The patch is awarded to anglers who catch and release a trout that is at least 18" long between March 1 and October 31 at all four of Missouri's trout parks. "I Released a Lunker" applications are available at the hatchery office at each trout park. The application requires a signature of a witness. Once the angler and witness have signed the application, Department of Conservation staff will present the angler with a patch that says "I Released a Lunker at Roaring River" or whatever trout park they caught and released the fish. David who got his Grand Slam patch at Roaring River recently had over 50 other lunker patches that he had accumulated over the years. The Grand Slam program has only been available for three years. Montauk hatchery has presented the other two grand slam patches. ~A photo of the Grand Slam patch can be viewed on Jerry's Trout Park Grand Slam (continued) blog. |
