Cassville Republican- Articles Published in February and March 1932 Roaring River Hotel to Soon Open With the leasing at Jefferson City last week of the Roaring River state park cabins and the dining room, it is expected that this famous resort will soon open to take care of the summer tourist business. The lease was made to George Moore, a Kansas City sporting goods dealer. Just when Mr. Moore will open the resort to the public we have not learned, but trust it will be soon...

Information on Roaring River Opening Day 2010

We are expecting as many as 2,500 anglers on this year's Monday Opener. Previous Monday opening days were in 2004 with 2,438 anglers and in 1999 with 2,471 anglers. There were 2,000 fish stocked for the winter Catch-and-Release season. We plan to add an additional 6,100 12"+ fish to the stream before opening day. In addition 50 lunkers three lbs. or heavier will also be stocked...

Winter Fishing at Roaring River

Catch-and- Release Trout Fishing will begin Nov. 13, 2009. Fishing is open in the park 8:00 a.m.-4:00p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday through Monday February 8, 2010. Anglers must have a Missouri Fishing Permit and a Trout Permit to fish the C&R season in the trout parks. These permits can be purchased at any Missouri Permit Vendor. The one closest to the park is Sportsman's Corner on Hwy 112 at the junction of Hwy 76. No daily tags are required for the Winter Season...

Roaring River State Park's Back to School Kids' Fishing Day

Roaring River had a very successful KFD event on August 15, 2009. There were 1,414 kids who attended, 14 more than the spring event. There were 87 volunteers who helped out. Eleven volunteers were also honored for helping out with Roaring River KFD for 10 years. ...

David "Chip" Little is one of only four anglers who has earned a "Grand Slam -I Released a Lunker" Patch. He has caught and released at least one lunker at all four trout parks in Missouri. Last Sunday, Aug. 16, he decided to keep his catch and head straight to the taxidermist. ...

The annual "Back to School Kids' Fishing Day" will be held Sat. Aug. 15 at Roaring River State Park. Everything is free for the Kids' that day. In order to participate, children 15 and younger just need to pick up a free daily tag at the information tent. ...

Hatchery to celebrate 100 years

The above picture was taken sometime before 1938 of the fish hatchery at Roaring River State Park. The hatchery was first constructed in 1910. I am putting together some articles to commemorate the centennial of the hatchery which will be in 2010.
