Summer ball

Posted Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 10:35 AM

The Cassville Little League began its 2010 baseball season last weekend. Parents, grandparents and other family members packed the Cassville City Park to cheer on their favorite Little League participants. I was there with my husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law to cheer on my brother-in-law, Jordan. Although the team did not win its first game, the kids had a great time out on the field.

There will be many baseball games held at the city park this summer. These community events give each of us an opportunity to serve as role models for the youngsters who take part in the summer league. I hope that each park visitor will remember to use the trash cans available and attempt to keep the facilities clean and orderly throughout the summer. I know there are aspects of the park that could be improved. Hopefully if we all show respect for what is there now, it will inspire the city to continue to offer better facilities for those using the park in the future.

Good luck to all of our local baseball, softball, soccer and flag football teams this summer!
